FrankM Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 There are two associated threads that provide background information on this thread,"Earth conductivity"http://www.hypography.com/scienceforums/showthread.php?t=316and "Piezoelectric earth"http://www.hypography.com/scienceforums/showthread.php?t=605 The information that is emerging is taking EQLs out of the realm of myth and folklore into scientific explanations as to why there are visual events associated with earthquakes. Here is a URL for an abstract of a forthcoming report to the IWSE (International Workshop on Seismo-Electricmagnetics) in Chofu near Tokyo in March 2005. (1625 KB pdf) http://elfrad.com/FranceStLaurent_IWSE_2005.pdf We need to completely retool our thinking on how "charges" are transferred through rock and in the atmosphere. We traditionally think in terms of conductivity, resistivity, electron drift and semi-conductor "hole" movement, but what is actually happening during earthquakes is different.
alexander Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 I think i discussed parts of this earlier smething under the topic of piezoelectic earth...But I'll read the article and continue discussion, little later...
