alexander Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 So I've had my mac for 24 hours, and i have to say that there are a few things that i can not imagine running OS X without: Quicksilver - quick application start serviceVirtue - desktop managerAdium - IMFirefox - BrowserOpenOffice - office suitTerminal - transparent terminal session with a pretty background and shiny fonts is essential to using it correctly for any extended period of time oh and most of all, an external mouse, touchpad is cool, but one button just does not cut it... however i love the way you scroll... alexander Posted December 7, 2006 Author Report Posted December 7, 2006 also gimp... what else do you guys think? Quote
TheFaithfulStone Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 I detest OpenOffice for a simple reason. It has an extra menu bar. I've not used Adium to any great length. I have a few "can't live without it" apps on the Mac - one is iCal. That program is awesome once you figure out how to leverage it. Quicksilver you mentioned. Virtue is good. I used to use a program called CRM4Mac pretty heavily. I'm in the market for a good PIM solution if you know one. TFS Oh Yes: Smultron. Best. Text. Editor. Since VI. Quote
alexander Posted December 7, 2006 Author Report Posted December 7, 2006 you can get gems for OS X, but its not very user friendly, if you know what i mean... i dunno, dont manage personal information on any computer... Quote

TFS Oh, never mind, gems is a program.. I was thinking you were saying OSX wasn't user friendly, and I was kinda bewildered. TFS Quote

alexander Posted March 3, 2008 Author Report Posted March 3, 2008 techo!!!???!!!No seriously people need to stop using this term, its so broad that you might as well be saying that you listen to music when asked about the music you listen to, techno, in general sense that 99% of people use it in, includes so many genres, i think you would be surprised. but just because i can, i will list most of them: Techno (as a subdivision of electronica):ClassicDetroitDetroit HouseTechno DanceTechno HouseVGMCasiocoreEuroRaveHard RaveGerman EuroJtek EuroSweedish EuroItalian EuroLatin EuroAcidAcid HouseHard AcidBanginIndustrialTribalMinimalDeepGloom CoreDubMicrohouseExperimental Now mind you this is only techno, what most people mean by "techno" is really "electronica" and that is such a huge variety of music, it's not even funny, everything from Noise Bass Harcore to hip-hop and rap to German trance and jazzstep... huuuuge generalization of music...
