Say is there anyway you people can configure computer network systems to operate with restrictions for age limits such as a software program that only allows certain websites to configure only children's websites so we can monitor our children's well-being? A disk with only certain websites on it.

I'm not a teacher but I don't understand the question...are you asking for a set of websites on a disk, or a system which censors websites? Or a system which monitors kids' behaviour? Or what? :turtle:

As with books, lectures, movies, and other media, that kind of monitoring is the job of parents. We have a little thing in the US called freedom of speech. We the people, remember? Well, kids are people too.

Tormod, I realize what I am saying there are over 200,000 kids that turn up missing every year. I had a delivery route when I was a kid and I lived in Iowa. Johnny Gosh disappeared and I delivered the papers but it was scary out there. Kids these days are really plugged into a lot of things I guess I don't pay much attention to what kids do and am concerned in the future when they are old enough to figure the computer out that they could be lured into a car or you know the worse cases you see all over the news. 200,000 kids is the number you get from the Missing Children cards you get in the mail. These parents could probably tell you more than me but I guess I am asking for a disk that has certain websites for kids for censorship you know you go to a movie and you have to be a certain age. Well kids are being bombarded with xxxpics I know this because I believe I heard it from BBC. I don't have a television and I don't watch much I am not plugged into the world I have lived a really self sheltered life but it taught me about Johnny Apple seed and how we use to go out and play football or swim or whatever fly a kite and kids they have homework and they are sitting on the web talking to their friends. I am not saying that parents shouldn't raise their Kids but I do know that the FBI does monitor websites that have chat lines I am not saying anything new if you think child services is going to come in and take your kids get to know the laws kids are innocent to some degree just read lord of the flies I think it was science fiction but nontheless well I am not a child psychologist or anything I just want kids to plug into websites that can get the world back together and in tip top working condition

Listen, I am not one for words but I know what love is. And kids need a lot of love because the world goes round and the big old world gets too big sometimes.

And kids they are people too if there is not a kid in you you are kidding yourself. There is always something good to remember about childhood. With exceptions such as Sybil she got help though so there must have been love in her life.

Do people think it would be more responsible to just pull the plug on talking to people over the web that you can't see?

That's a bit like asking if you can make the sun stop shining by wearing sun glasses. I'm going to have to say absolutely not. Let's go socratic here. I'll ask you one question, and you respond with one sentence answer (no run-ons... that's cheating  ).

Who could make the change you wish to implement?

Now, your turn. One sentence. okay??

Well I ordered some real estate tapes one time and thought hey they have website hyperlinks to the web and I guess two days ago is when I put two and two together that you could actually do it. It is just a matter of doing it so the tower has a built in system that could tell whether or not your kid is using it and I guess that is the parent. We know parents can't be there all the time so the hardware engineer makes it more hard for the child to get onto adult sites and let's say you had a disk for ages 11-13 well you could have a whole bunch of websites downloaded on the disk but the disk should interact with the computer. So the child actually has an online user I.D. to allow him or her onto the system and so they can be identified once they get on the network. I know this put's me under the gun but I am going to say let governments speak for themselves when enacting laws they are the regulators in this I am not. Yeah software is the ultimate change. It wouldn't be hard to manufacture. I guess you get kids excited about learning or something and have a simliar site like this for kids.
