theblackalchemist Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 News just came in . Saddam was hanged on 30 - 12 - 2006 morning. at Baghdad . technically it had to take place because today is suni's day of Eid , and no one can be executed today after dawn. he was executed silently by the US a few days before Eid. due to the timing of his execution , a revolt ( world wide )has been sparked of .a few people say that "Saddam was a dictator i agree . But there is a bigger Dictator on the loose . The US . It willed to attack iraq and it did . so why not execute them instead fo us ? "while an another set of people say that " the US has shown cowardice by executing Saddam before Eid . THEY ARE MERCILESS " he was executed for killing 148 shias in 1982a lawer has confirmed his execution , so do the US military. " the longer they keep alive Saddam's memory the longer they have to deal with the revolts of the people . now america has to focus their concenteration on the statergy on what to do in iraq ''though we are still awaiting official conformation . still pictures and videos were filmed and caught he was executed 8:30 india time Saddam reportedly handed over his will and a note to the people of iraq . WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO IRAQ ? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU ? he will not be remembered for his crime against humanity but he did all of iraq togeteher . Saddam will be more dangerous dead then alive . - Vaidya Shankar Iyertonight is the night of happiness , revenge , what goes around comes around , that whats happend to you , Saddam . - A patriot I welcome the fact that Saddam Hussein has been tried by an Iraqi court for at least some of the appalling crimes he committed against the Iraqi people. He has now been held to account. BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY MARGARET BECKETTA capital punishment is always tragic news, a reason for sadness, even if it deals with a person who was guilty of grave crimes. Saddam's death "will not help efforts aimed at justice and reconciliation'' and "risks increasing violence. VATICAN SPOKESMAN FATHER FEDERICO LOMBARDI Iraq has closed one of the darkest chapters in its history and rid the world of a tyrant. Every effort was made to afford Saddam the judicial rights he denied to the 148 innocent victims of Dujail and to hundreds of thousands of other Iraqis during his brutal reign. US DEMOCRATIC SENATOR JOSEPH BIDEN The people of Iraq now know that their brutal dictator will never come back to lead them. While many will continue to grieve over their personal loss under his rule, his death marks an important step in consigning his tyrannical regime to the judgment of history and pursuing a process of reconciliation now and in the future. AUSTRALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER ALEXANDER DOWNER The rushed execution of Saddam Hussein is simply wrong. It signifies justice denied for countless victims who endured unspeakable suffering during his regime, and now have been denied their right to see justice served. LARRY COX, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL USA France, which advocates like all its European partners the universal abolition of the death penalty, takes note of Saddam Hussein's execution. That decision belongs to the Iraqi people and to the Iraqi sovereign authorities. France calls on to all Iraqis to look forward and to work for reconciliation and national unity. More than ever the aim must be a return to the full sovereignty and stability of Iraq. FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTRY Saddam was a brutal dictator who committed numerous crimes against his own people and his neighbours. He deserved death. I'm so happy that a black era has come to a full end. IDMclean Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 A sad day in the history books, indeed. When brutality is the order of the day, and revenge the only dish served. Makes me dubious as to the ethical integrity and legitimacy of my home nation. I do understand, and know with reasonable certainty that Saddam commited many a crime, I still maintain that he wins the conflict when we commit such a crime upon him. When is it that the justice system becomes criminal? Boerseun 1 Quote
InfiniteNow Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Let's look on the bright side. We're MUCH more advanced now, and he wasn't stoned (to death)... Descriptions of Execution MethodsFor execution by this method, the inmate may be weighed the day before the execution, and a rehearsal is done using a sandbag of the same weight as the prisoner. This is to determine the length of 'drop' necessary to ensure a quick death. If the rope is too long, the inmate could be decapitated, and if it is too short, the strangulation could take as long as 45 minutes. The rope, which should be 3/4-inch to 1 1/4-inch in diameter, must be boiled and stretched to eliminate spring or coiling. The knot should be lubricated with wax or soap "to ensure a smooth sliding action," according to the 1969 U.S. Army manual. (The Corrections Professional, 1996 and Hillman, 1992) Immediately before the execution, the prisoner's hands and legs are secured, he or she is blindfolded, and the noose is placed around the neck, with the knot behind the left ear. The execution takes place when a trap-door is opened and the prisoner falls through. The prisoner's weight should cause a rapid fracture-dislocation of the neck. However, instantaneous death rarely occurs. (Weisberg, 1991) If the inmate has strong neck muscles, is very light, if the 'drop' is too short, or the noose has been wrongly positioned, the fracture-dislocation is not rapid and death results from slow asphyxiation. If this occurs the face becomes engorged, the tongue protrudes, the eyes pop, the body defecates, and violent movements of the limbs occur. (The Corrections Professional, 1996 and Weisberg, 1991) Why'd you kill him? Because he killed people...Huh??? Quote

theblackalchemist Posted December 31, 2006 Author Report Posted December 31, 2006 BAGHDAD/CAIRO: Ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was buried early Sunday in his home village of Ouja near Tikrit, al-Jazeera news channel reported. The 69-year-old former dictator, who ruled with an iron fist for 24 years before being ousted in 2003 in a US-led invasion, was hanged a day earlier in Baghdad. He had been sentenced to death after his conviction for crimes against humanity in connection with the killings of 148 people in 1982 in the Iraqi Shia town of Dujail. The capital punishment was carried out after a higher court rejected his appeals. Saddam had been handed over from US military jailers before dawn Saturday to coalition-backed Iraqi authorities, who carried out his death sentence within an hour. US forces reportedly delivered his remains late Saturday to local Sunni Arab tribal leaders in Tikrit, about 170 km from Baghdad. -mumbai mirrorMumbai News : Mumbai Mirror OnlineMumbai News : Mumbai Mirror Online Quote
