jackson33 Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Since, Nixon's visit to China and to some degree China's participation with the UN, few have given much thought a US/China conflict. Even with the Taiwanproblem, few have felt a real problem would develop. Now even the folks on that tiny Island are heading to that Mainland to expand. No doubt China has been instrumental in keeping the No. Korean problems to retoric... Clinton, made additional gains in diplomacy for whatever the reason, allowing trade to increase and the Bush Administration has done little to slow Chinese investments in the US. I can't estimate the numbers of US Companies now invested in, planning on or interested in participating in their economy. Though the rules differ and subject to there government actions, these people interest are accepted by the world investment community. If the world was to somehow need to war with China, its unlikely any other National Military, could take China, so long as the Chinese people were happy with their progress. No less than any Country, their are those that will complain consistently for reasons I will never understand and you have the majority who feel their Country is the best ever to live in. Patriotism is not a bad thing regardless of foundation. There is, IMO no connection, to OBL and China, with regards to US National interest. OBL and the National Security Council or for that matter terrorist were not new developments when GW Bush took office. The same people advised Clinton for the previous 8 years with much the same material. Mr. Hart, has some wild assumptions on what he feels, were intended actions when a Capitalistic/Free Trade/Business oriented administration takes over from a basically Socialistic/Liberal oriented administration. Building the Military back to at least a defensive mode, had nothing to do with taking over the worlds population, nor did tax reductions. Quote
Moontanman Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 I had a furious arument about this with someone else. Bear in mind that before I had a chance to respond I was banned from the forum. See what you think. Links removed by Tormod First I would like to state that i am from the USA and I am rabidly supportive of my country, not the neo-cons who are in control right now but my couintry in general. A war with china would undoubtly be lost by both sides. Far too many people would die for anyone to claim victory. If how ever the Chinese somehow lost contact with reality and attacked the US the would almost certinly get the excrement end of the stick so to speak. We have far too many nukes and that are far to accurate for any thing of any ecomonic value to survive in china. Of course the after math would screw us all so lets hope both sides figure out a way to solve any differences they may have. Real war between really powerful nations is really unthinkable in this day and age. Terroism is the real threat and until someone finds a way to combat that threat we are all in danger to some extent. Personally I don't want my head cut off because some one considers me an infedel. I am perfectly ok with them practicing their own religion with anyone who wants to worship that way but my bet is the only reason they have such harsh penelties is because so few people would voluntarily do that. arkain101 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 A war China vs. U.S-who will win? Something occurred to me when I read this today; could two large countries have a war in this day and age and come out with a winner? Politically the answer may be yes. However, realistically for people and their every day life, the answer is no. War today with our technology and capabilities is pure insanity and it is a lose - lose situation. Surely everyone would be so severely devistated the war itself would be forgotten and a hell of sorts would appear to have taken grip on our lives. The battle field today is anywhere one chooses. A daycare center, a shopping mall, or anything else you decide to imagine. There is no respect in this, there is no honor in this, it is purely insanity for one to find rationlise a reason they have the right, duty, or freedom to perform such acts. Today we do not fight with hearts, hands, and mind, we fight with idea's and technology carries out disgusting fantasies. No, there is no victory today in our method of war. We have reached the point of pure destruction and fanatic rationale. Michaelangelica 1 Quote
