gribbon Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 The last countries to abolish slavery were Iran (1928), Ethiopia (1942) and Qatar (1952). It has not disappeared, however. Modern day slavery embraces two million people worldwide, an observable fact, practised not only in Somalia, but Myanmar (Burma) the Sudan, Haiti, Pakistan, Benin, Togo, Bolivia, Cambodia, Cuba, Ecuador, Jamaica, Kuwait, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Mauritania and Venezuela. Does anyone else know of any other countries where it is still practiced, and what kind of labour is forced? Quote
