Ok so this isnt really the place to be asking questions about computer problems but at this moment I have run out of options..

I have a computer here, running XP pro, that used to be part of a windows domain network. A few hours ago I tried to move it over to my home network, thus removing the old domain, upon reseting the computer I can now no longer login.. I suspect the username and passwords where only for use on the domain, but it is now gone..

How can I either get around the password issue, or put it back on the domain - without logging into windows?

Thanks, Jay

Make sure you're logging into the local computer! There should be an "Options" button on the login window that will show you another field that lets you choose a domain, with an option to log on to the local computer, which should be the password you're used to using. If for some reason its different, the best thing to do is reattach it to the old network, login to the domain, then reset the local password for your username.

Otherwise it gets really ugly....

Good luck Mr. Phelps,

I thought I was Mr. Phelps...

:hihi:

Buffy's suggestion has worked for me in the past when I had a similar issue. If you get back to the old network, you might just login there and only lock the workstation (instead of logging out) so you do not have to do a full login when you get home (just unlock w/pwd).

I am familiar with that and the odd part is that the option to change domain just isnt there.. re-attaching to the network is not possible it has since been dissolved.

I have downloaded a tool called ERD commander 2005, this should do the job
