HydrogenBond Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 The history of sacrifice often reflected the evolution of humanity, with each step of evolution sacrificing something that symbolized the former level of human evolution. For example, sactificing animals reflected the sacrifice of our primative animal natures with the hope of becoming something more progressively human. It is sort of like the child finally sacrificing their "blankie". By doing so it symbolizes they are ready to give up something that symbolically attaches them to being a baby/tottler. This prepares them for the jump into childhood. Quote

InfiniteNow Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 what's a "blankie"? (English is my 2nd language, and sometimes am not familiar with english jargons, although sometimes I invent one.) Many children grow up with a blanket, and become very attached to it as an emotional item, a safety net, and a place of comfort. Some children use teddy bears, but a soft blanket is most common. In English, it's generally referred to as a "blankie" and brings with it the sense of a childhood emotional need for safety. Quote
rocket art Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Ok thanks; reminds me of Bush and his 'blankie' on the terror hype by puppet media. Quote
