Hi all

I stumbled on Hypography while searching for information on terra preta, especially low technology methods of producing bio-char primarily for agricultural purposes, in poor agriculture based economies. I have already signed up to two threads on this subject

I liked the constructive and socialable dialogues, useful ideas and definite intelligence in many of the posts.

best wishes,

Welcome Shimbir,

You have quit a challenge , since burning charcoal is so high status, putting it in the ground is a tough sell, even showing before after photos of production gains.

At the REPP-CREST bio/gas site there is a long history of work on efficient stoves for the third world and small scale gas systems:

Bioenergy Lists: Gasification | This page exists to help people involved in the development of GASIFICATION SYSTEMS.

I was recently drafted to help run a TP page and mail list there: About the Terra Preta Discussion List and Website at Bioenergylists.org | Terra Preta

Good luck in your efforts

Regards,

Erich

Hi erich and others who have responded to my introduction.

I had some questions to pose to those on the solar energy & charcoal thread, but noticed that I was not allowed to post there, but can post here. What am I missing (as a newbie) that would allow me to post on that thread?

Hi shimbir,

The requirement is only for your first post to be in the Introductions forum. If you try again to post there, you should not have trouble. You may need to wait until you have 10 posts to do certain things (like add links, start new threads, etc.), but there should be no reason you cannot now post in the terra preta (or other) threads.

Cheers. :)

We're having some permission problems right now! We're looking at it. :)
