Vibrio Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Hello everyone! I'm Vibrio. My real name is Kelly. I live in the USA in the state of Wisconsin. I am 18 years old (19 in April). I am going to college for microbiology, hense the name "Vibrio". If you don't know what Vibrio is, it is a genus of marine bacteria. I love all sciences, especially biology! I love asking questions, getting answers and sharing information. I have had a great interest in the sciences since I was little. I am also interested in fish and marine biology. I am working with a professor of mine to figure out why certain walleye fish in northern US and Canada have a blue color in their mucus. It is a very interesting project. So, you will probably see me talking a lot about microbiology and fish. I found this site on a Yahoo search. I was looking for some biology forums and came across this. I thought oooo! cool there's more than just biology! I look forward to meeting all of you and talking with you! Quote

InfiniteNow Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Hello Vibrio, Welcome to Hypography. I worked with some professors with electric fish while I was at Uni. They sensed the world around them with electric fields, and had a whole organ devoted to putting out current. Different, of course, from what you've described, but I'm glad you've found us all the same. Enjoy your stay. :hihi: Cheers. Quote
Vibrio Posted February 6, 2007 Author Report Posted February 6, 2007 Hey thanks, InfiniteNow! I think that is more than just interesting. We talked about those kind of fish in my zoology class last semester. They are awesome! I don't know too much about them but I'd love to learn. Quote
ronthepon Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Wait wait... doesn't vibrio refer in general to comma shaped bacterium? Vibrio cholera... :eek2: :D Welcome to hypography! Quote
